Vacationing Close to Home

Gas prices, skyrocketing insurances costs, busy schedules, and sometimes pure exhaustion are causing more and more of us to decide to vacation close to home this year.

And why not!

We live in one of the most beautiful and fascinating areas of the planet. Ask anyone from anywhere else. People plan and work and save to be able to spend a few short days here. Where we get to live year round.

This series will be exploring the possibilities of being tourists in our own back yards, towns, and regions. We'll try to introduce you to your neighbours who have attractions and businesses that are close to home and fun to do.

Don't hesitate to send us your suggestions or stories about how you had a blast right here in the North.

It's summer time! Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

A recent poll conducted by the Northern Life newspaper showed that nearly 80% of us were reconsidering our vacation plans this year because of gas prices alone.
